YEMI CARDOSO - CBN

The Central Bank of Nigeria has announced a major redistribution of portfolios among its deputy governors, with Philip Ikeazor emerging as the new head of the Policy Directorate.

The changes, approved by CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso and disclosed on Monday, affect all four deputy governors of the apex bank.

As part of the reshuffle, Ikeazor takes over policy responsibilities previously handled by Dr. Muhammad Abdullahi.

Abdullahi has now been redeployed to lead the Corporate Services Directorate, while Ms. Emem Nnana Usoro moves from Corporate Services to oversee Operations.

In another adjustment, Mr. Lamido Yuguda has been reassigned from the Operations Directorate to the Financial System Stability Directorate.

Although the CBN did not explain the reasons behind the changes, it noted that the redeployments were designed to strengthen institutional effectiveness by deploying senior officials to areas where their experience can be maximised.

The bank said the move was intended “to make use of the experience of senior officials in different areas of responsibility and to support evolving institutional priorities.”
