Ekiti 2027: 12 Parties, 174 Candidates Jostle for 26 Assembly Seats

Twelve political parties have fielded 174 candidates to contest the 26 seats in the Ekiti State House of Assembly in the 2027 election.

The 2027 Ekiti State House of Assembly election is shaping up to be a keenly contested race, with 12 political parties presenting a combined 174 candidates for the 26 available seats.

The details were contained in a document signed by Sina Ogundana, the Ekiti State Legal Officer I of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and made available to journalists.

The All Progressives Congress (APC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) are the only parties that fielded candidates across all 26 constituencies.

The Action Peoples Movement (APM) entered the race in 19 constituencies, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) fielded eight candidates. The Labour Party (LP), meanwhile, is contesting five seats.

Also participating in the election are the Action Alliance (AA), with four candidates; Action Democratic Party (ADP), three; Young Progressives Party (YPP), three; and Accord, with two candidates.

With 174 candidates competing for 26 seats, the party lineup points to a competitive battle for the Ekiti State House of Assembly in 2027.
