Leeds Near Survival as Bournemouth Beat Newcastle, Pressure Mounts Across Premier League

Leeds strengthen survival hopes with a 3-0 win over Wolves while Bournemouth extend unbeaten run by beating Newcastle.

Leeds United boosted their Premier League survival hopes with a dominant 3-0 victory over Wolves, opening up a nine-point cushion above the relegation zone.

The win follows their landmark triumph at Manchester United, their first league victory at Old Trafford since 1981, further strengthening their push to remain in the top flight.

Goals in quick succession from James Justin and Noa Okafor in the first half left Wolves in deep trouble, before Dominic Calvert-Lewin converted a late penalty to complete the scoring.

Wolves sit bottom of the table with just three wins in 33 matches and face relegation if Tottenham Hotspur manage to end their 14-match winless Premier League streak against Brighton.

Tottenham’s struggles continue despite the relative success of newly promoted sides such as Sunderland and Leeds, who have defied the recent trend of immediate relegation.

In recent seasons, all promoted clubs have gone straight back down, but Leeds now look increasingly safe and could also reach their first FA Cup final since 1973 if they overcome Chelsea in the semi-finals.

Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi prepares to face his former club Brighton in his first home game in charge, while the return of James Maddison, named among the substitutes after a long injury layoff, provides a boost.

In another major result, Bournemouth defeated Newcastle United 2-1 at St James’ Park, intensifying scrutiny on manager Eddie Howe.

Despite announcing that manager Andoni Iraola will leave at season’s end, Bournemouth extended their unbeaten run to 13 league games, with Marcus Tavernier and Adrien Truffert on the scoresheet.

The result lifts Bournemouth to eighth place and within four points of the Champions League positions, while Newcastle remain 14th and increasingly unlikely to secure European football.

Howe omitted Anthony Gordon amid ongoing transfer speculation, as questions grow over his future despite leading Newcastle to their first domestic trophy in 70 years last season.

Brentford were held to a goalless draw by Fulham, missing the opportunity to move into the Premier League’s top six.

Chelsea, meanwhile, must recover from three consecutive defeats when they host Manchester United, who are third in the table but travel with injury concerns in defence.

At the top of the table, Arsenal face Manchester City in a crucial title clash, holding a six-point advantage while City have a game in hand and home advantage at the Etihad.
