London’s Wireless Festival Scrapped After UK Denies Entry to Kanye West

UK blocks Kanye West from entering the country, forcing organisers to cancel the Wireless Festival and issue refunds to ticket holders.

The 2026 Wireless Festival in London has been cancelled after US rapper Kanye West, also known as Ye, was barred from entering the United Kingdom over past antisemitic remarks.

Festival organisers confirmed the decision on Tuesday, stating: “As a result of the Home Office banning YE from entering the United Kingdom, Wireless Festival has been forced to cancel,” adding that ticket holders would receive full automatic refunds.

West had applied to travel to the UK on Monday but was refused entry, with authorities citing concerns that his presence would not be “conducive to the public good,” according to reports.

The rapper was due to headline the event across all three nights in July, but controversy intensified after sponsors such as Pepsi and Diageo withdrew their backing.

In response, West sought to address criticism by offering to engage with the Jewish community. In a public message, he said:

“My only goal is to come to London and present a show of change, bringing unity, peace, and love through my music.”

“I would be grateful for the opportunity to meet with members of the Jewish community in the UK in person… I know words aren’t enough — I’ll have to show change through my actions.”

The controversy has been fuelled by West’s previous antisemitic comments and the release of his 2025 song “Heil Hitler.”

UK officials condemned his actions, with Health Secretary Wes Streeting calling it “appalling” that he cited bipolar disorder as justification, while Prime Minister Keir Starmer described his booking as “deeply concerning.”

Jewish leaders urged caution, with Phil Rosenberg stating that genuine remorse must be demonstrated before any public platform is considered appropriate.

Meanwhile, the Campaign Against Antisemitism supported the government’s decision, saying it showed that the UK was serious about tackling antisemitism.

The incident adds to growing controversy surrounding West’s attempted return to the European stage, with opposition also emerging in France ahead of a planned performance in Marseille.
