Mikel Arteta Breaks Silence on Arsenal’s Transfer Plans Amid Vinicius Junior Links

Mikel Arteta has reiterated Arsenal’s transfer ambitions after the Gunners were linked with Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior ahead of the new season.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has insisted the club remains ambitious in the transfer market as reports continue to connect the Gunners with a potential move for Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior.

The North London side has reportedly been keeping tabs on the Brazilian forward’s contract situation in Spain as it explores options to strengthen its attacking unit before the new Premier League season.

Arteta spoke about Arsenal’s transfer strategy after his side cruised to a 4-1 pre-season victory over Girona, making it clear that more business could be completed in the coming weeks, although he stopped short of commenting specifically on Vinicius.

“Well we are really active, trying to improve and evolve the team. That’s clear,” Arteta said.

“We expect to have movements in the next few weeks, obviously, because we want to get better like anybody else.

“And you can just see it. The transfer market and our opponents, what we are doing – we won’t sit still. And we are very ambitious in what we want to do.

“The margins are very small. And because we want to get better and the level is going to increase, we need to increase the competition internally. We need to make sure we identify the things that we don’t have in the team, to have bigger margins. And that’s the way we have to think.”

His comments have added fresh momentum to speculation over Arsenal’s recruitment plans, with Vinicius Junior reportedly among the marquee names being monitored as the club seeks further additions before the transfer window closes.
