Alaafin Owoade of Oyo

The recent Oyo Obaship amendment bill has been generating a social media frenzy and online dispute. I have read the back-and-forth arguments. The applauding, indifferent, and disapproving opinions

The fear of many regarding the bill is that the bill may be driven by extraneous considerations and political motives rather than a genuine desire to preserve and promote our cultural heritage.

One would think that since the controversy of supremacy had died a natural death since the time of former Governor Otuba Christopher Alao Akala, the issue of managership should have been settled forever. What time demands from our kings now is not a return to the fragmented glory of ancient pride but a renewal of unity among themselves.
