Yoruba Nation campaigner Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, has threatened to publicly identify politicians he claims are backing kidnappers responsible for recent school abductions in Oyo State.

Speaking during a meeting with newly elected National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) executives led by Akinteye Babatunde in Ibadan on Wednesday, Igboho alleged that influential political figures were providing financial and logistical support to criminal groups operating in the state.

In a video of the meeting circulated by Wisdom TV, the activist claimed he had offered to participate in efforts to rescue abducted pupils in Oriire Local Government Area but was prevented from doing so by state authorities.

“I know the politicians behind them, and if they do not stop perpetrating their evil acts, I will mention them all. I know them. The politicians behind them are the ones giving them ammunition and money,” Igboho declared.

He maintained that he could help flush the kidnappers out of their forest hideouts if given approval.

“If I am permitted to burst into the hideouts, they will flee. They are neither gnomes nor mannequins; they are humans, so that they could be dislodged,” he said.

According to Igboho, the Oyo State Government later informed him that the kidnappers had threatened to kill the abducted children if he attempted to intervene in the rescue operation.

“Later, they informed me that the kidnappers said if I try to force myself to come rescue the children, they will kill them all,” he stated.

The activist also expressed frustration that his security outfit, Iru Ekun, was not allowed to take part in rescue efforts despite receiving federal approval to operate.

Beyond the security concerns, Igboho argued that the wave of insecurity was part of a broader effort to weaken President Bola Tinubu’s government.

“The same thing they did to Jonathan is what they are doing to Tinubu. They want to make the country ungovernable for him,” he said.

Igboho’s comments come amid public concern following the abduction of dozens of pupils and teachers during attacks on three schools in Oriire Local Government Area on May 15. The incident sparked widespread protests and renewed calls for stronger security measures across the country.
