Natacha Akide, better known as Tacha, has addressed the circumstances surrounding her recent arrest, denying allegations that she defrauded a woman of N5 million.

The former BBNaija star was arrested at her Lagos home on Sunday, August 30, following her failure to respond to police invitations. She said the police action was linked to an allegation circulated online claiming that she collected N5 million from a woman whose husband was in need of financial assistance for a kidney transplant.

In an interview with our reporters on Thursday, Tacha said the allegation originated from a social media user, Olajide, who operates the handle @joph007_.

According to her, Olajide accused her of collecting the money from the woman and made what she described as “derogatory” comments about her, including referring to her as “Ashawo.”

Tacha strongly rejected the allegation, saying she had never had any communication with the woman at the centre of the controversy.

“I have never spoken to the woman in question before,” she said.

“Somebody just came online and accused me of collecting N5 million from a woman who is seeking financial assistance for her sick husband. Meanwhile I have never spoken to the woman before.”

She said the controversy intensified after the social media claims went viral, eventually drawing the attention of the police.

Tacha further disclosed that her legal representatives initially treated the matter as a civil dispute before it progressed into a criminal investigation.

While maintaining her innocence, the reality TV star said the N5 million fraud allegation was completely false and added that she was cooperating with the authorities to establish the truth and clear her name.
