“We’re going to hit them again hard”: Trump threatens Iran over stalled peace talks

Donald Trump said the US will hit Iran again, warning Tehran over stalled peace talks and escalating tensions following recent military exchanges.

Donald Trump has vowed fresh US attacks on Iran, accusing the country’s negotiators of “playing us for suckers” amid a breakdown in fragile peace efforts.

“We hit them hard yesterday. We’re going to hit them again hard today,” Trump told reporters at the White House, adding: “We’re going to be attacking them — attacking them very hard.”

The statement followed US strikes carried out on Tuesday after an American Apache helicopter was shot down. The aircraft’s two crew members were rescued, according to US officials. The incident has further strained a ceasefire established in April.

Trump said the US could escalate operations to include strategic infrastructure targets, such as bridges and power facilities, but avoided confirming specific plans.

“I am not going to say that to you. But I can do that,” he said when asked about reported options.

He also voiced frustration with negotiations he claimed were close to completion.

“We were really close to a deal, but they keep tapping us along, they keep playing us for suckers,” Trump said. “It’s fully negotiated… but they’re tapping and tapping.”

In a post on Truth Social, Trump warned Iran would “have to pay the price,” declaring “The Bully of the Middle East is DEAD!!!” and accusing Tehran of delaying a deal.

He previously suggested talks were nearing completion within days, a tone that contrasted sharply with his latest remarks.

Iran responded by claiming it had launched attacks on US bases in Jordan and Bahrain on Wednesday, marking a further escalation in regional tensions.
