‘Every Company Will Be an AI Company’: Nvidia CEO Urges Europe to Expand AI Industry
Nvidia has invested $8 billion in Europe over the past year, CEO Jensen Huang says, urging the region to strengthen its artificial intelligence ecosystem.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has predicted that artificial intelligence will affect every industry and become an essential part of businesses worldwide, calling on Europe to strengthen its AI infrastructure and capabilities.
“Every single company will be an AI company eventually. Every single industry will be impacted by AI,” Huang said at an event in Stockholm late Thursday.
His remarks came during a European tour ahead of a Nvidia-hosted conference scheduled to take place in Berlin next week.
Huang argued that Europe must establish a complete AI technology ecosystem, covering everything from data centres to chatbots and other applications.
“The important thing for us is to recognise that Europe needs to build out the entire stack,” he said.
In an interview with AFP later, Huang revealed that Nvidia had committed $8 billion to investments across Europe over the preceding year, with additional funding planned.
“We’ve strategically invested in different parts of that ecosystem, really high quality companies that we believe could help lift it, the whole ecosystem in Europe,” he said.
He identified British data centre and AI cloud company Nscale and Dutch cloud provider Nebius as examples of businesses receiving support.
“In the last one year, we’ve invested $8 billion already. We have another couple of billion dollars in the pipeline,” Huang said. “We’re helping Europe create the AI ecosystem.”
The Nvidia chief was visiting Stockholm for the launch of Sferical One, a Swedish supercomputer built using Nvidia chips. The facility is intended to ensure sensitive Swedish data and expertise remain within the country.
Separately, Volvo Cars announced during Huang’s visit that it was expanding its partnership with Nvidia to advance safety technology for its planned autonomous vehicles.
