“My support for Tinubu is unshakable” — Cubana Chief Priest insists
The socialite defended the APC-led administration, citing increased state funding following the removal of fuel subsidy.
Celebrity barman Cubana Chief Priest has declared that his support for President Bola Tinubu and the APC remains “undiluted and unshakable,” despite losing the party’s ticket in Imo State.
Speaking on The Beat FM, he said the outcome of the APC primary for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East federal constituency had not changed his loyalty to the ruling party.
“My support for the party is undiluted, and my support for the president is something that is unshakable,” he said.
He explained that his decision to venture into politics was driven by a desire to transition from online engagement to direct participation in governance.
“What we have to do at this moment is to go beyond what we used to do… but after that, what happens? Nothing happens,” he said.
He added that his financial capacity and influence could be better used in contributing to governance processes rather than remaining on social media.
“I felt I could go beyond social media posting. I have the energy to participate, I have the energy, money and experience to participate,” he said.
Cubana Chief Priest also cited improvements in state funding under the APC-led government following fuel subsidy removal as part of his support for the administration.
“A lot of governors now are able to do a lot of things in their states without borrowing money,” he said.
He had earlier stepped down from the APC primary after zoning considerations reportedly affected his constituency, and previously stated that President Tinubu harbours reservations about him due to his past involvement with Labour Party candidate Peter Obi during the 2023 elections.
