US rapper Pitbull has made Guinness World Records history after thousands of fans dressed in bald caps at his concert in London.

According to Guinness World Records, 22,141 people wore bald caps before Pitbull’s performance at the British Summer Time (BST) Festival in Hyde Park on Friday, setting the inaugural record for the largest gathering of people wearing the headwear.

Fans also completed the rapper’s signature appearance with black suits, aviator sunglasses and stick-on goatees.

After being presented with the record certificate, the 45-year-old performer celebrated the milestone.

“Record breaking, record making, history in the making,” he said.

Despite temperatures reaching 31°C in London, fans enthusiastically embraced the challenge, prompting Pitbull to express his appreciation.

“Thank you London, thank you to the fans, thank you Hyde Park, thank you to the bald-es,” he said.

The trend of fans dressing as Pitbull has gained popularity at his concerts over the past few years.

One fan, 21-year-old Connie McGovern, joked that she had committed fully to the look.

“I think I put it (the bald cap) on too early. I can’t take it off now because my hair and my make-up’s messed up, so I’ve got to commit — it’s not coming off,” she told AFP.

Her sister, Ella, 23, described the experience as memorable.

“It’s good to be a part of something. We’re going to make history today,” she said.

Pitbull was the first artist to officially attempt the Guinness World Records challenge, making the achievement the inaugural record in the category. The Miami-born rapper is widely known for chart-topping songs such as Fireball, Timber, Time Of Our Lives and On the Floor.
