Spain advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Portugal 1–0 in a thrilling Round of 16 encounter on Monday night, ending Cristiano Ronaldo’s final World Cup campaign.

The highly anticipated match lived up to expectations as both sides battled for a place in the last eight. Spain eventually secured the victory with a decisive goal, while Portugal’s efforts to find an equaliser proved unsuccessful.
