Spain FIFA World Cup Champion 2026

Spain have become the world’s highest-ranked men’s national team in FIFA’s unofficial live rankings following their 2026 FIFA World Cup victory over Argentina.

The updated live rankings, published on Monday, place La Roja first with 1,995.88 points, reflecting a gain of 30.27 points from their title-winning run. The standings remain provisional until FIFA publishes its next official Men’s World Ranking.

Argentina slipped to second with 1,970.37 points after losing the World Cup final.

Spain secured the title with a 1-0 extra-time victory over the defending champions, thanks to Ferran Torres’ 106th-minute winner. The triumph also denied Lionel Messi a second consecutive World Cup title in what could be his final appearance at the tournament. Argentina were unable to record a shot on target during the final.

France retained third place in the live rankings with 1,948.97 points, despite losing to England on penalties following a dramatic 4-4 draw in the third-place match.
