World Peoples Assembly Opens Zambian Office -By Kestér Kenn Klomegâh
In the coming months, participants will expand the circle of partners and prepare a roadmap for its implementation under the leadership of Victoria Piri Chitundu, Director of the David Livingstone Museum in Zambia, cultural historian and researcher.
The World Peoples Assembly held a presentation of its new Representative Office in the Republic of Zambia at the Lusaka National Museum in early August 2026. The event was attended by researchers, representatives of the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Zambia, art agencies, heads of non‑governmental organizations, as well as graduates of Russian universities.
Perris Nkombe, Director of the Lusaka National Museum, emphasized the readiness for joint work: – The Lusaka National Museum is ready to become a platform and a reliable partner for the World Peoples Assembly and its initiatives in the fields of culture, research, and the arts. We see great potential in this cooperation.
Mabvuto Tembo Chipata, Executive Director of the Her Voice Foundation, announced that the Representative Office of the World Peoples Assembly in the Republic of Zambia has been established on the basis of five non‑governmental organizations – active members of the Assembly – and outlined the key areas of the Representative Office’s work for the coming year:
– hosting the national stage of the “Leader of Public Diplomacy” Contest in 2027;
– expanding the membership base of the World Peoples Assembly – by engaging representatives from the arts, culture, business, and other sectors;
– developing international cooperation in both commercial and non‑commercial spheres under the auspices of the World Peoples Assembly.
Thus, the establishment of the World Peoples Assembly Representative Office in Zambia opens up new opportunities for the development of public diplomacy, humanitarian interaction, and international projects in culture, education, research, and entrepreneurship.
A special part of the opening ceremony was the presentation of the outcomes of the World Public Summit: Africa and the international research project “Zambezi River: Economy, Society, Soul”, also initiated within the World Public Summit: Africa. The project will bring together representatives from seven countries and will be dedicated to studying the significance of the Zambezi for the economy, society, culture, and historical memory of the peoples of the region.

The opening of the Representative Office in Lusaka marks an important step in developing cooperation between the World Peoples Assembly and public, cultural, and research organizations of the Republic of Zambia. The new platform is to strengthen direct people‑to‑people and institutional ties, support international humanitarian initiatives, and foster intercultural dialogue.
