All four cocoa farmers abducted during a visit to the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria have now been released, with security forces successfully apprehending three suspects linked to the incident.

Reports revealed that the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N100 million before the victims were freed. Earlier, police had rescued two of the farmers within 24 hours of the abduction.

Akeem Olatunji confirmed the release, attributing the success to the collaboration of multiple security agencies including the Police, Directorate of State Services, Amotekun, and local vigilantes.

He said the victims have been handed over to the police and praised the “concerted efforts” of all security operatives involved.

The rescue operation was led by Fatai Owoseni, Security Adviser to the Oyo State Governor. Olatunji assured residents of ongoing cooperation with security agencies to maintain the safety of lives and property in the community.
