Trump Calls NATO ‘Paper Tiger,’ Criticises Allies Over Iran Conflict

US President Donald Trump criticises NATO nations for not helping secure the Strait of Hormuz as global oil prices rise due to the Iran conflict.

Donald Trump has lashed out at NATO allies, branding them “cowards” for not joining US-led efforts against Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said: “Without the U.S.A., NATO IS A PAPER TIGER!”

“They didn’t want to join the fight to stop a Nuclear Powered Iran. Now that fight is Militarily WON, with very little danger for them, they complain about the high oil prices they are forced to pay, but don’t want to help open the Strait of Hormuz, a simple military maneuver that is the single reason for the high oil prices.

“So easy for them to do, with so little risk. COWARDS, and we will REMEMBER!”

Trump, a long-time critic of the Western alliance, has repeatedly shifted his stance, at times saying the US does not need assistance, while also urging allies to step in.

On Thursday, several countries including Britain, France, Germany and Japan expressed readiness to support efforts to secure the key shipping route but stopped short of committing to military action. Others, including Germany and Italy, have said they would wait for a ceasefire before considering involvement.

The Strait of Hormuz — a critical chokepoint for global energy supplies — remains heavily disrupted due to Iranian actions, contributing to rising oil prices.

The ongoing conflict began on February 28 after US and Israeli strikes on Iran, triggering retaliatory attacks across the Gulf region.
