Leicester City’s Thai owners have reportedly begun the process of seeking a buyer for the club, with King Power said to have put the former Premier League champions up for sale.

The report emerged on Thursday, just 10 years after Leicester shocked English football by winning their first Premier League title.

The Foxes are now facing a dramatically different reality, with the club set to play in League One, England’s third tier, for only the second time in their history.

Their decline has been marked by back-to-back relegations, first from the Premier League in 2025 and then from the Championship in 2026.

Leicester also suffered a six-point deduction last season after being found to have breached the English Football League’s profit and sustainability rules, contributing to their eventual relegation.

According to a BBC report, King Power — owned by the Srivaddhanaprabha family — has hired a leading US investment bank to assist with the search for a buyer.

The club’s assets are reportedly being valued at more than £200 million ($269 million).

King Power took control of Leicester in 2010, purchasing the club for £35 million.

Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha became Leicester chairman after his father, Vichai, died in a helicopter crash outside the club’s King Power Stadium in 2019.

Following last season’s relegation, Aiyawatt admitted that he should shoulder the “blame” for the club’s predicament but also indicated that changes were coming, saying the “structure will change.”

Leicester now turn their attention to rebuilding their fortunes on the pitch. Russell Martin’s team will begin their promotion campaign away to Notts County on Saturday.
