Nasarawa Police Nab Suspected Kidnapper, Seize AK-49

Police in Nasarawa arrest a 32-year-old suspected kidnapper in Akwanga and recover an AK-49 rifle, vow to track down other gang members.

The Nigeria Police Force in Nasarawa has arrested a 32-year-old man suspected to be involved in kidnapping activities in Akwanga LGA.

Police spokesperson Ramhan Nansel said the arrest followed credible intelligence received by the PMF 38 Akwanga Unit on March 20 at about 5:00 p.m.

The intelligence revealed that the suspect was seen carrying a firearm within the Adudu area.

“Acting swiftly on the information, a team of Mobile Police operatives was immediately deployed… and they successfully apprehended the suspect,” he said.

The suspect, identified as a native of Rugan Hassan in Adudu community, Awe LGA, was found in possession of a weapon during a search.

“Upon arrest, a search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of one AK-49 rifle along with four rounds of live 7.56 mm ammunition,” Nansel added.

He said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation, with efforts ongoing to arrest other suspects.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging the public to support security agencies with timely information.
