Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has reiterated his support for ongoing military operations against Boko Haram, warning residents against any form of collaboration with insurgents.

The statement follows airstrikes conducted by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai in the Jilli area of Gubio Local Government Area on April 11, 2026.

Jilli, a border community between Borno and Yobe States, has been identified by security agencies as a strategic location in the counter-insurgency campaign.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, Governor Zulum described Jilli Market as a long-standing logistics point for insurgents.

“I have been properly briefed on the airstrike carried out by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai on Jilli Market… Let me state categorically that the Borno State Government closed Jilli and Gazabure markets five years ago,” the governor said.

Zulum said he is in consultation with the Yobe State Government and military authorities regarding the operation.

He explained that Borno State works closely with security agencies before reopening or resettling communities in conflict-affected areas, ensuring proper clearance and safety.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and stabilising the state, while urging residents to assist security agencies with credible intelligence.

He also warned citizens against supporting insurgents in any form, stressing that collaboration with security threats undermines ongoing military efforts to restore order.
