Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has ordered all political appointees to vacate their positions and hand over duties with immediate effect, just a day after commencing his second term.

The order was outlined in a Wednesday circular from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, signed by Permanent Secretary Dr Nwabufor Nwankwo.

The circular instructed that all affected officials should hand over to Permanent Secretaries or, in their absence, the most senior officer in their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

It emphasised that the process must be completed by the end of the same working day as the directive, ahead of the constitution of a new cabinet.

“I am directed to inform all political appointees to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior civil servant in the various MDAs on or before the close of work today, until a new cabinet is constituted,” the circular stated.

The government also directed members of the outgoing cabinet to meet with the governor on March 23 at 10 a.m. at the Anambra State Executive Council Chambers.
