Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has alleged that armed men invaded the Ibadan home of traditional faith defender Tani Olohun in the early hours of Tuesday, allegedly attempting to abduct him.

The reported incident took place at Ayegun Oleyo, Ibadan, where the men were said to have entered the residence and attempted to take Tani Olohun away.

The development reportedly sparked panic and commotion in the area, with residents said to have resisted the alleged attempt.

Igboho said he received a distress call around midnight from neighbours of Tani Olohun, who alerted him to the presence of unidentified armed men allegedly attempting to abduct the traditional faith defender.

He said the neighbours claimed the men had arrived from Ilorin in Kwara State, after which he proceeded to the area with his men to investigate the situation.

“The distressed neighbours of Tani Olohun in Ayegun Oleyo contacted us at midnight about the attempt by some unidentified armed men, who allegedly came from Ilorin, Kwara State, to abduct him,” Igboho said.

According to the activist, he found Tani Olohun unconscious when he arrived at the scene.

“I had to move there with my people to ascertain what was happening, only to discover Tani Olohun lying unconscious on the ground after being beaten to a stupor,” he alleged.

Igboho also alleged that a woman who had recently undergone a caesarean operation was attacked during the incident.

“Another woman who recently had a cesarean operation was also attacked,” he said.

He further claimed that the men barricaded the road leading into the area, making access difficult for residents and others attempting to reach the scene.

“The armed men blocked the access road, but we were able to rescue Tani Olohun and restore peace in the community,” Igboho said.

The alleged invasion reportedly led to a confrontation as residents resisted efforts to take Tani Olohun away. The presence of armed men in the community at such an hour also reportedly heightened fear among residents.

Residents were said to have believed that the men were police officers who had travelled from Ilorin. However, the identities of the men, the purpose of the alleged operation and whether they were acting under official authority remained unconfirmed.

The reason for the alleged assault on Tani Olohun, as well as the reported attack on the woman who recently underwent surgery, was also not immediately known.

Igboho said he and his men intervened to rescue Tani Olohun and prevent the situation from escalating.

He reiterated that their immediate objective was to ensure Tani Olohun’s safety and restore normalcy in the area.

“The armed men blocked the access road, but we were able to rescue Tani Olohun and restore peace in the community,” he said.

The allegations could not be independently verified as of press time, and the police had yet to issue an official statement confirming or denying the reported operation.

The area was reportedly calm later after Tani Olohun was rescued from the scene.
