Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Tuesday appeared before a Federal High Court in Kaduna amid heavy security as he faces charges linked to alleged corruption.

The case, brought by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, also involves Joel Adoga as a co-defendant.

El-Rufai is accused of offences including abuse of office, fraud, money laundering, and the alleged conversion of public assets. A separate matter is also pending before the Kaduna State High Court.

He was brought into the courtroom at about 9:31 a.m. under heavy escort, after being transported in a white van guarded by officials of the Department of State Services.

Authorities tightened security around the court complex, deploying police and civil defence personnel to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
