Iran has rejected US demands to halt uranium enrichment, insisting on its nuclear rights before upcoming negotiations.

Mohammed Eslami has declared that Iran will not give up its right to enrich uranium, pushing back against U.S. demands ahead of renewed diplomatic talks.

The statement was made on Thursday at a memorial for late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, with Iran’s ISNA news agency reporting his remarks.

“Those are their wishes, and those wishes will be buried,” Eslami said in response to the U.S. position.

Talks between Iran and the United States over Tehran’s nuclear activities had been underway even before the recent hostilities.

President Donald Trump has insisted on preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, a claim Tehran continues to reject despite its uranium enrichment programme.

With a two-week ceasefire recently announced, both sides are expected to resume negotiations in Islamabad on Friday, focusing on reaching a lasting peace deal.
