Burnley Football Club have confirmed the departure of head coach Scott Parker after the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

The decision, announced on Thursday, was reached by mutual agreement between Parker and the club’s hierarchy, ending his tenure at Turf Moor after one season in the top division.

Parker had led Burnley to an impressive promotion from the Championship last season, highlighted by a 31-game unbeaten run and 30 clean sheets. However, the club struggled upon returning to the Premier League, recording just four wins.

Their relegation was sealed on April 22 following a narrow defeat to Manchester City, compounding an already difficult campaign.

Since taking over from Vincent Kompany in July 2024, Parker saw his side concede 68 goals in 34 league matches—the worst defensive record in the division—while also suffering early cup exits.

Burnley thanked Parker for his service, stating: “The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Scott for his professionalism, dedication and contribution.”

“He leaves with the respect and gratitude of everyone connected with Burnley Football Club.”

Reacting to his exit, Parker said managing the club had been an “immense privilege.”

“I have enjoyed every moment of our journey together, but feel that now is the right time for both parties to move in a different direction,” he said.

“I reflect back with great pride on what we achieved… especially our unforgettable promotion season in 2024/25.”

Assistant manager Mike Jackson will take interim charge for the remaining fixtures, starting with a clash against Leeds United, as the club begins its search for a new permanent manager ahead of next season.
