Several worshippers were abducted when suspected bandits stormed an Evangelical Church Winning All in Omugo, Ifelodun LGA of Kwara State on Sunday, with three victims later rescued.

The attack, which occurred during a church service, caused widespread fear in the community before security operatives intervened.

According to Bolanle Olukoju, a coordinated response involving security agencies, forest guards and vigilantes led to the successful rescue and forced the attackers to retreat.

“We commend the immediate and coordinated response… which led to the rescue of three of the abducted victims and helped to repel the attackers,” she said.

She noted that security agencies have been instructed to continue the manhunt for the assailants and ensure the safe return of those still in captivity.

The commissioner condemned the attack, stressing that violence against places of worship would not be tolerated.

“The Kwara State Government strongly condemns the cowardly targeting of a place of worship… such acts of violence have no place in our communities,” she said.

She further urged residents to support security efforts and remain alert, adding that ongoing forest operations have already made progress in tackling criminal activities in the area.
