July 6, 2026, was a day of significant developments in Nigeria and around the world, marked by political decisions, tragic road accidents, and major international events.

In Nigeria, the Federal Government dismissed allegations that it spent over ₦8 trillion outside the approved budget, insisting that all public expenditures followed constitutional and financial regulations. The clarification came amid growing public concern over government spending and economic challenges.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu also visited the Northeast to launch key road construction projects aimed at improving transportation, boosting economic activities, and supporting development in the region.

However, the day was overshadowed by tragedy as fatal road accidents claimed lives in different parts of the country. At least 15 people died in a crash in Kwara State, while another 10 lost their lives along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Authorities urged motorists to obey traffic regulations to reduce road fatalities.
