The Anambra State Government has called on residents to assist in identifying fake pastors and religious leaders allegedly involved in criminal activities.

Speaking through a statement released on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr. Law Mefor, said Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration is intensifying efforts to tackle individuals who exploit religion and traditional practices for unlawful purposes.

Mefor disclosed that the government has put measures in place to take the fight against fake pastors and native doctors directly to communities across the state as part of its campaign against crime.

“The government is calling on Ndi Anambra and all residents of the state with credible information on pastors, churches, or so-called ‘men of God’ involved in criminality, extortion, fraud, deception, or any act that endangers lives and the peace of our communities, to please speak up,” he stated.

He noted that the action is aimed at restoring sanity within both religious and traditional institutions while strengthening public safety.

The commissioner assured residents that all reports would be treated with strict confidentiality.
