President Bola Tinubu has taken a formal step toward the 2027 presidential race after purchasing the nomination and expression of interest forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja.

The N100 million cost of the forms was paid collectively by supporters and political groups nationwide, according to party insiders.

Tinubu was represented at the APC secretariat by Rep. James Faleke, a prominent member of the Tinubu Support Group. The forms were presented by APC National Organising Secretary Sulaiman Argungu.

Faleke also picked up nomination forms for Lagos Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Senator Idiat Adebule, and himself, as part of simultaneous party activities.

Addressing journalists, Faleke said the purchase was not sponsored by one individual.

“It is on behalf of all Nigerians… I am privileged to buy the form on behalf of our performing president,” he said, adding: “By the grace of God, he will contest and he will win the election.”

He disclosed that over 1,000 contributors from Lagos alone participated in funding the presidential form, noting that representatives were sent due to the large number involved.

Faleke also said he was awaiting the official receipt for Senator Adebule’s nomination form.

The APC, meanwhile, dismissed claims of restricted access to nomination forms.

“As far as APC is concerned, nomination forms are open for all aspirants,” said Deputy National Publicity Secretary Duro Meseko.

Separately, Senator Shehu Buba of Bauchi South purchased a governorship form for the 2027 Bauchi election, saying he is confident of victory over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led government.

He said: “I am physically present to obtain my nomination forms… those aspiring should come forward.”

In Kogi State, Governor Ahmed Ododo held a stakeholders’ meeting aimed at forging consensus ahead of the 2027 elections, though no final agreement was reached.
