Dada Olusegun Accuses Nasboi of Sharing Misleading Terror Footage
Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Social Media accused Nasboi of spreading fear with a viral video, alleging the footage was unrelated to Nigeria.
Dada Olusegun, Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, has called out popular content creator Nasboi over a video showing armed men, alleging that the footage was wrongly linked to Nigeria.
Reacting to the post on Tuesday, Olusegun said the video originated from a social media account that described the armed men as terrorists operating in Benin Republic, not Nigeria.
He argued that sharing the footage without proper context could fuel fear and misinformation among Nigerians.
“You cannot continue to intentionally use your page to spread fear @iamnasboi for whatever reason you might think you have.”
Olusegun further stated:
“The video you posted was clearly quoted from a page that says these are Beninese terrorists. This means the footage is from Benin Republic and has nothing to do with Nigeria.
“We have our challenges, but you using your wide reach to spread fear with a fake footage is the highest form of irresponsibility. You can do better!”
Despite the criticism, the presidential aide did not present independent evidence confirming the source or location of the footage.
Nasboi had shared the video earlier in the day, tagging the president with the caption:
“PRESIDENT @officialABAT.”
The footage depicts armed men on motorcycles moving through what appears to be a rural community during a raid.
The incident has drawn attention to concerns about misinformation on social media, particularly regarding security-related content, and the need for verification before publication.
