Getafe have secured the services of former Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal, with the 34-year-old signing as a free agent until June 30, 2027.

Carvajal left Real Madrid at the end of last season, bringing to a close a successful spell in which he collected 27 trophies with Los Blancos.

Confirming the move on Tuesday, Getafe said in a statement: “Getafe have reached a deal with Dani Carvajal that will keep him at the club until June 30, 2027.” The club also highlighted the defender’s “leadership and experience”.

A product of Real Madrid’s La Fabrica academy, Carvajal moved to German side Bayer Leverkusen in 2012 before returning to the Spanish club the following year.

His final season at Real Madrid was affected by injuries, while he was not selected for Spain’s squad for the World Cup, which the national team won.
