Galadima Urges Voters to ‘Defend Votes With Kerosene,’ Hints at Obi, Kwankwaso Exit from ADC
Obi and Kwankwaso may leave ADC soon, Galadima says, while urging supporters to protect their votes.
A chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has stirred controversy after calling on Nigerians to defend their votes in the 2027 elections using “bottles and jerry cans of kerosene.”
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting of the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement in Abuja on Saturday, Galadima stressed the need for resilience and determination in the face of political challenges.
“Salvaging a country from the hands of fascists like this is not an easy thing. It needs sacrifice, strategy and the use of the internet,” he said.
“Be prepared to be in the trenches to safeguard our freedom… we must democratically, through the ballot box, remove this bad government.”
He added in a striking remark:
“And during the elections… go to the polling centres with your bottles and jerry cans of kerosene. Either they do what is right, or we all die there.”
Political Realignment Looms
Galadima further revealed that major opposition figures, including Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, may soon exit the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for a new political platform.
He warned that once the move is announced, critics would intensify attacks through media and online channels.
“They will sponsor columnists… they will deploy social media influencers to start attacking our candidates,” he said, urging supporters to be ready to respond forcefully to such narratives.
Rising Opposition Activity
The comments come as supporters of Obi and Kwankwaso convened in Abuja for a unity summit, part of broader efforts to consolidate opposition forces ahead of the 2027 elections.
Galadima’s remarks highlight the growing tensions and strategic manoeuvres shaping Nigeria’s political landscape as the election season approaches.
