Deborah Mbara, a cancer survivor, has alleged that her medical report was altered and circulated without her permission by social media influencer Blessing CEO, a claim now confirmed by the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Delta State chapter.

In a video posted on Instagram on Tuesday, Mbara described the incident as deeply distressing, saying her document was used to support false claims of stage 4 breast cancer.

The NMA stated that the report shared by Blessing CEO was manipulated and originally issued to another patient. It traced the document to Xinus Medical Diagnostics in Asaba, which denied issuing any report to the influencer and confirmed that the authentic result belonged to Mbara.

“Xinus Medical Diagnostics is located in Asaba, Delta State and did not at any time issue any report to Blessing Okoro,” the association said in a statement signed by its chairman, Israel Adaigho, and secretary, Usamah Hannah.

According to the NMA, the test was conducted on May 9, 2025, following a referral from a private hospital, and the result was issued to the attending doctor.

“The test was done and the result issued to the referring doctor as a case of breast cancer on the 9th of May, 2025,” it said.

The association added that the original report, bearing Mbara’s name, was later published online by Allen Juris Law, confirming its authenticity.

The NMA called for accountability and urged law enforcement agencies to act, warning against the misuse of medical documents.

Explaining how the situation unfolded, Mbara said she had tried to support Blessing CEO when the influencer claimed to be battling cancer.

“Sometime last year, Blessing CEO was in Asaba, and I was her makeup artist,” she said.

“Fast forward to last week… we even got a doctor on the call to help us educate her… Then she said, ‘Zazi, can you please help me send the report…’ Only for me to see it on the internet… that it was my result she doctored…”

She further claimed that although the influencer publicly denied knowing her, she later visited her family to apologise.

“But she was in Asaba on Monday to beg my husband and my family. My husband told her to tender a public apology on social media and confess how everything happened,” Mbara said.

“I thought I was helping someone in need… This is evil… I was traumatised by her action,” she added.

The issue dates back to January when Blessing CEO announced she had breast cancer and shared a report while soliciting donations, reportedly raising N13 million.

Despite the controversy, the EFCC has said no official complaint has been filed against the influencer.
