The Oyo State Police Command has debunked widespread social media reports alleging that pupils and teachers abducted from Ahoro Esiele and Yawota communities in Orire Local Government Area have regained their freedom.

Reacting to the reports on Thursday, the Command said the information being circulated online was inaccurate and lacked any factual basis.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, authorities described the claims as “categorically false, misleading, and entirely unsubstantiated.”

“As of the time of this release, there has been no such development, and members of the public are advised to disregard the report in its entirety,” the statement added.

The police emphasized that efforts to rescue the victims remain active, assuring affected families that security agencies are continuing coordinated operations aimed at securing their release.

The Command said operatives are “working tirelessly, deploying all available human and operational resources” to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers and the prosecution of those behind the crime.

Police also expressed concern over the spread of unverified information, warning that such reports could “cause unnecessary panic, heighten public anxiety, undermine ongoing security operations, and threaten public peace and order.”

Members of the public were encouraged to seek information only from official sources and to support ongoing security efforts.

Reiterating its commitment to the safe return of the victims, the Command assured residents that it would continue providing accurate and timely information as new developments emerge.
