Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has clarified that he has not declared for the 2027 presidential election and has not endorsed any aspirant, describing ongoing claims as premature.

In a statement posted on his X account, the former Kano State governor said consultations on his political future are still underway, with no final decisions taken.

He disclosed that discussions involve leaders from the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and other political stakeholders.

Kwankwaso noted that uncertainty surrounding the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has contributed to the delay in making a decision, citing ongoing legal disputes affecting the party.

He explained that although the Supreme Court upheld the leadership of the National Working Committee under David Mark, the case has been sent back to the High Court, while a separate Federal High Court ruling has nullified the party’s recent convention.

Legal Concerns and Political Calculations

The former minister also expressed concern over moves to deregister the ADC, noting that his group had previously exited the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) due to legal challenges.

Position on 2027

Kwankwaso stressed that no decision has been made regarding the presidential race.

“The ADC is yet to zone its presidential ticket or take any decision on a candidate. I have therefore neither declared any intention to run for president nor endorsed any aspirant. All speculations to the contrary are premature and unfounded.”

He added that his absence from recent ADC meetings was due to unavoidable personal engagements and assured supporters that his next political move would be communicated in due course.
