“Awoniyi Nets Twice as Nottingham Forest Sink Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge”

Taiwo Awoniyi leads Nottingham Forest to a 3-1 win over Chelsea as the Blues suffer their worst league run since 1993.

Nottingham Forest secured a vital Premier League victory on Monday, defeating Chelsea F.C. 3-1 at Stamford Bridge, with Taiwo Awoniyi scoring a brace in a result that deepened Chelsea’s struggles.

Awoniyi opened the scoring early in his 100th appearance for Forest before Igor Jesus extended the lead from the penalty spot, putting the visitors firmly in control.

Chelsea’s evening worsened when Cole Palmer failed to convert a first-half penalty, adding to a disappointing display from the hosts.

Awoniyi added his second goal after the break to seal the win, while João Pedro’s late bicycle kick provided only a consolation for Chelsea.

The defeat leaves Chelsea in ninth place and marks their sixth consecutive league loss — their worst run since 1993 — putting their Champions League qualification hopes under serious threat.

Forest, meanwhile, continued their impressive run of form, recording a third straight league win and moving six points clear of the relegation zone with survival edging closer.

The visitors struck almost immediately, with Awoniyi heading home after just 97 seconds following a cross from Dilane Bakwa.

Chelsea almost equalised through Enzo Fernández, whose effort hit the post, but their problems increased when Malo Gusto conceded a penalty for a shirt pull on Awoniyi.

After a VAR review, Igor Jesus converted to double Forest’s advantage.

Chelsea were handed a penalty in stoppage time of the first half after Jesse Derry was fouled, but Palmer’s attempt was saved by Matz Sels.

Forest made it 3-0 early in the second half when Morgan Gibbs-White set up Awoniyi for a simple finish, despite Chelsea protests for offside.

João Pedro later scored a spectacular overhead kick, but it did little to change the outcome as many home fans had already begun to leave.

Forest’s unbeaten run in all competitions now stretches to 10 matches as they continue their push for safety and momentum.
