As the 2027 governorship race gathers momentum in Bauchi State, citizens are increasingly asking an important question: who is the candidate most prepared to address the state’s pressing challenges? At a time when concerns over education, healthcare, youth unemployment, and economic hardship dominate public discussions, leadership should be judged by priorities, commitment, and a verifiable record of public service.

In my view, Senator Shehu Buba Umar has emerged as one of the strongest contenders because of the humanitarian and development-oriented activities associated with his public service.

One of the most significant areas is education. Across the 20 local government areas of Bauchi State, many young people have reportedly benefited from scholarship opportunities, particularly in medical and health-related fields. Investing in education is not merely a charitable gesture; it is a long-term investment in the future of the state. A leader who consistently supports students and professional training may be better positioned to strengthen educational institutions, expand access to higher education, and develop the skilled workforce needed for Bauchi’s future.

Healthcare is another area where many supporters believe Senator Shehu Buba Umar has demonstrated compassion and responsiveness. Numerous accounts suggest that he has assisted individuals with medical bills, including cases requiring treatment outside the state and, in some instances, outside the country. If such commitment were translated into government policy, it could mean greater investment in hospitals, primary healthcare centres, medical personnel training, and improved access to quality healthcare for ordinary citizens.
