Benue Police Nab 10 Over Murder of Miyetti Allah Chairman, Associate

Benue Police say 10 suspects have been arrested following the murder of Miyetti Allah chairman Ardo Risku Mohammed during a return trip from a peace meeting.

The Benue State Police Command says it has arrested 10 persons in connection with the killing of the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in the state, Ardo Risku Mohammed, and one Yakubu Isa.

According to the police, the suspects were apprehended during a late-night tactical operation carried out on June 27, 2026, in Otukpo Local Government Area after extensive intelligence gathering.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, the Command described the arrests as a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the deadly attack.

The suspects identified by the police are Titus Thyodenda, 25; Utibe Sam, 20; Owoicho Ameh, 18; Sunday Useni, 21; Sunday Ogbanje, 46; Daniel Raphael, 23; Adokole John, 24; Samuel Ogazi, 32; Agbo Daniel, 25; and Onazi James, 30.

Benue State Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus Nwadiogbu, commended the tactical teams and investigators for their prompt response and professionalism.

“The Command has made significant progress in the ongoing investigation. Ten suspects have so far been arrested in connection with the incident following intensive intelligence and tactical operations,” he stated.

The police commissioner said investigations were continuing, adding that efforts had been intensified to track down additional suspects linked to the killings.

According to him, “The Command remains committed to ensuring that all those found culpable are brought to justice in accordance with the law.”

CP Nwadiogbu also urged residents to remain peaceful and support security agencies with useful information that could aid ongoing investigations.

He stressed that the Benue State Police Command remained determined to maintain law and order while safeguarding lives and property across the state.

Ardo Risku Mohammed and Yakubu Isa were reportedly attacked and killed by gunmen in Okudu community, Otukpo LGA, while returning from a peace meeting organised by the Divisional Police Officer in Idekpa, Ohimini LGA.
