Ferran Torres Completes PSG Move After World Cup Final Heroics

PSG have signed Spain international Ferran Torres from Barcelona for a reported €50 million, reuniting him with coach Luis Enrique.

Paris Saint-Germain have announced the signing of Spain forward Ferran Torres from Barcelona in a deal reportedly worth €50 million ($58 million).

The 26-year-old World Cup winner has signed a contract with the French champions that will keep him at the club until 2031.

“Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce it has secured the services of Ferran Torres. The Spanish World Cup-winning forward has signed with the Club until 2031,” the club announced on Saturday.

Torres arrives in Paris having already worked with PSG manager Luis Enrique. The coach was responsible for giving him his first Spain appearance in 2020, when the national team faced Germany in the Nations League.

The striker, formerly of Valencia and Manchester City, enjoyed a successful spell at Barcelona, winning three La Liga titles.

He entered last month’s World Cup final as a substitute before scoring during extra time, helping Spain defeat Argentina and preventing the South American champions from retaining their title.

Torres, who is nicknamed ‘The Shark’, joined Barcelona in the 2021/22 campaign. Across 207 appearances for the club, he scored 65 goals and was also on target in Barcelona’s 2025 Copa del Rey final triumph over Real Madrid.

Barcelona paid tribute to Torres following his departure.

“The Club would like to express its gratitude to Ferran Torres for his commitment over the last four and a half seasons as a blaugrana and wishes him all the best for the next stage of his professional career,” the club said.

His departure from Barcelona and subsequent arrival at PSG could potentially boost Liverpool’s chances of signing PSG winger Bradley Barcola.

The 23-year-old Frenchman was among the players who impressed at the World Cup, with Liverpool reportedly pursuing his signature.

Negotiations between Liverpool and PSG have continued for weeks, but PSG’s reported valuation of approximately €150 million ($173 million) has remained a significant stumbling block.
