Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed on Wednesday refuted speculation that he has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.

Speaking briefly to journalists at the Government House in Bauchi after inaugurating new permanent secretaries, the governor denied the reports but said he would address the issue more fully later.

“Pressmen, no interview for now, I will speak with Channels Television soon. I am now an international figure in politics; I don’t want to domesticate myself. I will address this later today. I have not moved, they said that I had long defected,” he said.

Mohammed currently chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum and remains one of the last governors in the party, alongside Seyi Makinde, following multiple defections.

Among those who have exited the PDP are Dauda Lawal, Ahmadu Fintiri, Caleb Mutfwang, Agbu Kefas, Umo Eno, Sheriff Oborevwori, Peter Mbah, Douye Diri and Siminalayi Fubara.
