“Iran Issues 30-Day Ultimatum to US Over Hormuz Blockade Amid Stalled Peace Talks”

Tehran demands lifting of US maritime blockade and war end terms as tensions escalate despite ongoing ceasefire negotiations.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has given the United States a 30-day deadline to end its maritime blockade of Iranian ports, warning President Donald Trump to choose between “an impossible military operation or a bad deal.”

The ultimatum comes after Iran submitted a 14-point peace proposal to Washington, calling for non-aggression guarantees, the lifting of the naval blockade, and a comprehensive end to the war, including in Lebanon.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the proposal demands a permanent resolution to the conflict, not a temporary ceasefire, as well as the removal of US restrictions on the Strait of Hormuz and Iranian ports.

He added that the plan also includes security guarantees and broader confidence-building measures between both nations.

President Trump said he was considering the proposal but was uncertain about reaching an agreement, following earlier dissatisfaction with a similar Iranian initiative delivered via Pakistan, which had contributed to the April 8 ceasefire.

Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported that its 14-point framework was developed in response to a nine-point US plan.

However, diplomatic progress remains stalled, with Iran insisting on a permanent end to hostilities while the US demands Tehran first lift its Hormuz blockade and halt uranium enrichment.

Tensions escalated after Iran restricted the Strait of Hormuz following US-Israeli strikes on February 28, while Washington maintained a naval blockade on Iranian ports despite the ceasefire agreement.

Both sides have continued maritime confrontations, including interceptions and seizures of vessels, underscoring ongoing tensions in the strategic waterway.
