“Iran Issues 30-Day Ultimatum to US Over Hormuz Blockade Amid Stalled Peace Talks”

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has given the United States a 30-day deadline to end its maritime blockade of Iranian ports, warning President Donald Trump to choose between “an impossible military operation or a bad deal.”

The ultimatum comes after Iran submitted a 14-point peace proposal to Washington, calling for non-aggression guarantees, the lifting of the naval blockade, and a comprehensive end to the war, including in Lebanon.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the proposal demands a permanent resolution to the conflict, not a temporary ceasefire, as well as the removal of US restrictions on the Strait of Hormuz and Iranian ports.

He added that the plan also includes security guarantees and broader confidence-building measures between both nations.

President Trump said he was considering the proposal but was uncertain about reaching an agreement, following earlier dissatisfaction with a similar Iranian initiative delivered via Pakistan, which had contributed to the April 8 ceasefire.

Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported that its 14-point framework was developed in response to a nine-point US plan.

However, diplomatic progress remains stalled, with Iran insisting on a permanent end to hostilities while the US demands Tehran first lift its Hormuz blockade and halt uranium enrichment.

Tensions escalated after Iran restricted the Strait of Hormuz following US-Israeli strikes on February 28, while Washington maintained a naval blockade on Iranian ports despite the ceasefire agreement.

Both sides have continued maritime confrontations, including interceptions and seizures of vessels, underscoring ongoing tensions in the strategic waterway.
