Apapa Customs Revenue Rises to N302.9bn in October as Command Intensifies Trade Facilitation
The Nigeria Customs Service’s Apapa Command recorded N302.9bn in October revenue under Comptroller Murtala Mu’azu, marking a 7.13% monthly increase.
The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has announced a revenue collection of N302.9 billion for October 2026, recording a 7.13 per cent growth from the N282.79 billion generated in the preceding month.
The latest figures were contained in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs Isah Sulaiman.
The Command explained that the increase was achieved through sustained efforts to improve revenue collection and ensure smoother operations for legitimate businesses.
It credited the performance to the leadership of Comptroller Murtala Mu’azu, who took over as Customs Area Controller on September 29, 2026, with a focus on strengthening stakeholder relations, enhancing operational effectiveness and improving service delivery.
According to the statement, Mu’azu has placed emphasis on the Customs Service’s policy thrust of Consolidation, Collaboration and Innovation, particularly as it relates to resolving challenges faced by businesses operating within the port.
In pursuit of this objective, the CAC convened a stakeholder meeting last month, bringing together importers, exporters, licensed customs agents, shipping companies and terminal operators.
Discussions at the meeting centred on addressing delays in Demand Notices, difficulties associated with cargo clearance and other operational issues affecting port activities.
The Customs Area Controller has also embarked on visits to key stakeholders and strategic partners in the port community to build stronger institutional relationships and encourage cooperation.
The Command said the engagements were intended to promote mutual understanding and establish a more business-friendly environment for traders and other port users.
In another move to improve efficiency, the Command has intensified efforts to review and simplify its Transire processing procedures.
The initiative, according to the statement, is expected to remove unnecessary bureaucratic delays, enhance inter-departmental coordination and shorten processing time while maintaining the necessary compliance and control standards.
The Command maintained that improving trade facilitation and operational efficiency remains central to its efforts to support legitimate commerce while safeguarding government revenue.
