2027 Elections: ‘Show How Many People You Killed to Prove Rigging’, Keyamo Mocks Opposition
Festus Keyamo reacts to the emerging “rig and die” slogan, mocking opposition politicians over allegations of electoral rigging ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, SAN, has taken a sarcastic swipe at opposition politicians over allegations of electoral rigging ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The minister challenged those who frequently accuse the ruling party of manipulating elections to show the number of people they killed during the electoral process as proof of their claims.
Keyamo expressed this position in a Thursday post on his X platform while commenting on the emerging political slogan, “rig and die”.
He said the slogan should be embraced, arguing that it would prevent opposition politicians from using allegations of electoral fraud to explain their poor performance at the polls.
The minister suggested that if elections were conducted freely and fairly, those who eventually lose should not be able to conceal their defeat behind claims of rigging.
He wrote: “The new buzz phrase ‘rig and die’ should excite all of us and we should all embrace it.”
Explaining further, Keyamo said:
“The simple reason is that when those who are now trumpeting it lose woefully in a free and fair context, it will be impossible for them to hide their humiliation at the polls under the guise of ‘rigging’ as they have always done.
“This is because we will ask them how many ‘riggers’ they killed on the election day, because the number of those killed by them should be directly proportional to the amount of ‘rigging’ that took place!”
He added pointedly: “In other words, they need to show how many people they killed to prove the election was rigged!! Chai!!”
The comments come against the backdrop of increasing political rhetoric, rivalries and exchanges between political parties and their supporters ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
