Iran Reports 3,468 Deaths in Conflict With US and Israel as Ceasefire Holds
Tehran has reported more than 3,400 deaths in its conflict with the US and Israel, with conflicting figures also released by other monitoring groups.
Iran has stated that 3,468 people were killed in its war with the United States and Israel, according to figures released by the state-run Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs.
The announcement came on Saturday amid a two-week ceasefire in the conflict, which began in late February following US-Israeli strikes on Tehran.
According to Foundation head Ahmad Mousavi, as reported by ISNA, “3,468 ‘martyrs… fell during the recent conflict.’”
The latest figure is higher than a previous estimate of 3,375 deaths issued on April 12 by Iran’s Legal Medicine Organization.
In contrast, the US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) said on April 7 that at least 3,636 people had been killed, including civilians, children, military personnel, and others whose status was not determined.
HRANA reported 1,701 civilian deaths, among them at least 254 children, along with 1,221 military personnel and 714 unidentified cases.
AFP noted that it cannot independently verify casualty figures due to restrictions on access to affected areas in Iran.
