Roberto De Zerbi has insisted Tottenham’s survival fight is “not finished yet” after a dramatic 2-2 draw with Brighton left Spurs deep in the Premier League relegation zone.

Tottenham led twice in a tense encounter at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Xavi Simons’ 77th-minute strike seemingly securing all three points. But late heartbreak followed as Georginio Rutter levelled for Brighton, silencing the home crowd.

The result keeps Spurs 18th, one point behind West Ham and two adrift of Nottingham Forest, with just five games left in the season and relegation looming for the first time since 1977.

Despite the setback, De Zerbi remained optimistic after his first home match in charge.

“It’s not finished yet, we have another five games,” he said. “It’s tough… but this team is able to win five games in a row.”

He added a rallying message to his squad: “They have to follow me, they have not to think, they have to follow me and to listen to me.”

Spurs’ winless run in the league continues, with no victory since December, while rivals continue to collect crucial points in the relegation battle.

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler praised Tottenham’s squad quality, stating: “They have unbelievable players… I think they have enough quality in their squad to make it happen.”
