Raphinha Ruled Out of Barcelona’s Next Two Games After Brazil Injury
Barcelona captain Raphinha will miss matches against Getafe and Galatasaray after suffering a hamstring injury on Brazil duty, Hansi Flick confirms.
Barcelona will be without captain Raphinha for their upcoming matches against Getafe and Galatasaray after the forward picked up a hamstring injury while representing Brazil, manager Hansi Flick announced on Friday.
The 29-year-old will miss Saturday’s Spanish league fixture against Getafe before sitting out Tuesday’s Champions League trip to Istanbul to face Galatasaray.
Flick described the injury as relatively minor but stressed that the club would handle the situation carefully because of the player’s history of recurring muscle problems.
“The picture shows something and it’s not a big injury,” the Barcelona manager told reporters.
“We have to take care about this because he has last season a lot of injuries about this. I think three injuries.
“And we take care. So, he’s not available tomorrow (Saturday against Getafe in La Liga) and also not available in Istanbul against Galatasaray (on Tuesday in the Champions League).”
The German coach was also critical of the demanding schedule facing players, expressing frustration over the circumstances surrounding Raphinha’s injury during Brazil’s friendly in Australia.
Raphinha has been a key figure for Barcelona this season following his repositioning as a centre-forward. He has scored 14 goals in eight appearances across all competitions, making him the top scorer among players in Europe’s major leagues.
Nevertheless, his record of repeated muscle injuries remains a concern for the Spanish champions.
The Brazilian previously returned from the March 2026 international break injured after featuring against France in a friendly match in Boston.
Barcelona felt the impact of his absence during the final stretch of last season, particularly in the Champions League, where they suffered a quarter-final elimination at the hands of Atletico Madrid.
Raphinha also sustained a hamstring injury while playing for Brazil at the 2026 World Cup, adding to his history of fitness setbacks.
Barcelona will now have to manage his absence as they seek to maintain their impressive start to the season. The reigning two-time Spanish champions remain unbeaten in La Liga and lead the table by five points over Atletico Madrid.
