Trump Pressures Iran to Accept Nuclear Deal, Says ‘They Better Get Smart Soon’

Iran faces economic strain as Trump insists on nuclear concessions and maintains blockade strategy.

President Donald Trump has issued a fresh warning to Iran, urging it to quickly accept U.S. demands on its nuclear programme as Washington intensifies economic pressure through a naval blockade.

Speaking on Wednesday, Trump signalled that patience is running out, declaring: “Iran can’t get their act together… They better get smart soon.”

Reports indicate the U.S. is likely to reject Tehran’s latest proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial channel for global energy supplies, and instead continue its blockade strategy.

The strait has been largely shut by Iran since the conflict with the U.S. and Israel escalated two months ago, causing major disruptions to global oil markets. At the same time, Iran’s economy has been strained, with its currency dropping to historic lows.

Frustration among ordinary Iranians is growing. “Sanctions have either started or intensified,” one resident said, adding that negotiations often worsen living conditions.

During a state dinner at the White House, Trump told King Charles III that Iran had already been “militarily defeated” and stressed that it would not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons.

Tehran, however, remains defiant. Military spokesman Amir Akraminia said Iran has “no trust in America” and warned of additional capabilities if conflict resumes.

Iran has proposed easing its control over the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for relief from U.S. measures, but Washington appears unwilling to compromise.

Reza Talaei-Nik, an Iranian defence official, insisted the U.S. must “abandon its illegal and irrational demands,” adding that Washington can no longer dictate to other nations.

The standoff continues to affect global markets, with oil prices rising and geopolitical tensions spreading, including renewed clashes in Lebanon involving Israeli forces and Hezbollah.
