The quarter-final fixtures for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have been finalized after Switzerland defeated Colombia 4-3 in a penalty shootout following a goalless draw in the final Round of 16 match.

The two sides failed to produce a goal after 120 minutes in Vancouver, forcing penalties, where Switzerland converted four spot-kicks to book a last-eight meeting with Argentina.

The Round of 16 delivered several memorable moments, including Argentina’s dramatic comeback from two goals down to eliminate Egypt 3-2, with Lionel Messi scoring and providing an assist to inspire the defending champions.

England also secured a thrilling 3-2 win over Mexico in one of the tournament’s most entertaining matches, while France booked their place in the quarter-finals with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Paraguay.

Norway stunned five-time world champions Brazil 2-1, with Erling Haaland playing a key role in one of the biggest upsets of the competition.
