Rauf Aregbesola, the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has revealed that he has remained faithful to his wife, Sherifat, throughout their marriage.

The former Osun State governor disclosed this during an ADC rally in Ejigbo Local Government Area of the state as the party intensifies its campaign ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

Addressing supporters in Yoruba, Aregbesola attributed his marital fidelity to his fear of God and a personal promise he made to himself.

He said he also regarded his commitment to his marriage as part of a personal test while asking for divine intervention in his political aspirations.

“Oh Lord my God, if you are the one I am serving, and I did not add any other thing to it. What I am about to say, only a few men can say it: Because of your fear, I never had any intimacy with another woman since I married my wife,” he said.

Aregbesola then added, “I told God that next June, we must do it at the government house.”

The politician governed Osun State between 2010 and 2018 before becoming the national secretary of the ADC. The party is currently campaigning to take control of the state government.

The Osun governorship election is set for August 15, 2026.

Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party is seeking another term in office, while the APC is fielding Bola Oyebamiji. The ADC candidate is Najeem Folasayo Salaam.

With election day approaching, the ADC has intensified its campaign across the state in an effort to unseat the incumbent administration.
